It started out as a simple pantry project. Inspired by my newfound blog idol, IHeart Organizing, I convinced my husband to go buy a label maker while I was knee-deep sorting through grains, flours, and canned goods.
It started innocently enough with a few labels for some canisters.
It slowly progressed to the labeling of other oddball storage containers.
Then I looked up at my spice rack and thought, I never use half of these.
This spice rack was a wedding gift back in 2008. Guess how many times I have used caraway, celery seed, chives, coriander, fennel, and marjoram since then?
Zero.
I decided to take matters into my label-making hands.
After this is when it started to get a little crazy.
…I think you see where this is going.
Now I’m meticulously searching the house with the detail of a CSI team looking for more things to label.
Do you have a label maker? What are your favorite uses for it?

hahahaha I’d probably do the same!!
The Boy’s mom did their whole sail boat!! you’d love it!!!!
Yeah…I’m pretty sure I would label everything from the Tylenol bottle to Teton’s dog treats (all 80 bags of ’em). I hope my husband never lets me purchase one of these! Ok, but in honesty, it’s pretty damn cool and I kinda want one.
The next thing I did after this was go through the dog treats! I announced that we are not to buy ANY more treats until our 80 bags are empty! 😉
Love it. My P-Touch was so old I thought I deserved a new one. Haven’t had time to label much but some new folders.
Ooooh folders…I hadn’t gotten to those yet!
Oh my Lara. Please come to my house. You can use your label writer to your heart’s content! I want to get this organized as well… I think maybe I’ll be buying a label writer today!
How about I come to your house and play with Amber while you label? 🙂
Love it!
I have horrible follow through so if I had a label maker I would go label crazy the first week and than slowly but surely become more and more lackluster about.
Although, you make it look like fun!
Oh I’m hoping that my enthusiasm wears off soon, or I’ll be labeling my couch and husband!
hahahahahahahah i LOVE this! we have one at the office and i’m obsessed with it too. i make labels on everything on my desk. i guess i should start thinking about doing this at home?
You know the OCD in me is crazy jealous and wanting some of that action right about now 🙂
$20 at Target, baby!
I see a target trip in Ryan’s future 🙂
Hey Lara – I approved your comments – they were awaiting moderation 😀
Haven’t used caraway?? I used it last night when I made reuben burgers, and I’ve used it on my pizza crust when I made a reuben pizza.

Okay, I may have a slight obsession with reubens!
Hmmm, maybe I’ll give caraway a second chance!
Oh, and I have a label maker at work – love it!
Awesome! 🙂
I have one of those, too and I use it to organize all my school stuff 🙂
we have a label maker and love it. that reminds me though I am out of tape for it, need to go get more 😉
As you know, Andy used to have a label maker, but somehow it got “lost.” He is very jealous of yours! But no, we are not getting one. It’s a great idea for organized people, but it just makes me feel completely inadequate… And, yes, I realize that it could help me to get more organized, but I think things are just fine the way they are! 🙂
Happy labeling! 🙂
I love my label maker. Organization saves my sanity so I know what is baking powder and what is cornstarch. Glad to see I’m not alone 🙂
Somehow, I don’t own a label maker… I’ve only been wanting one, for oh, at least 5 years. I wonder what my fiance would think if I added it to our wedding registry…. hmmmm 😉
omg now I want a label maker.
